![]() From our Board of Directors:
We are excited to announce the appointment of Catherine Bell into the role of Managing Director. Catherine is replacing Carla Finch who has filled the role since we first incorporated as a company limited by guarantee in February 2023. |
Firstly, we want to express our sincere gratitude to Carla for taking up the role, especially with all of us on the Board being so new to this new structure, coupled with the dual challenge of being pregnant with her second child!
During her 2.5 year tenure, Carla oversaw the development and launch of our Mothers Matter program, successfully applied for a Queensland government grant to develop marketing materials for Best Birth Finder. She is currently overseeing the final stages of the filming for this marketing campaign.
Fortunately Carla will be remaining on the Board, so we will continue to benefit from her business experience and dedication to maternity services advocacy. Thank you for everything Carla! |
Our new Managing Director, Catherine Bell, PhD, brings with her a wealth of maternity services advocacy. Catherine has served for 7 years as our ACT Branch President, representing MCA on a number of advisory panels such as the Safer Baby Bundle, as well as at her Local Health District in the Southern Highlands, NSW.
Catherine is also the creator of The Birth Map, and The Game of Birth and has developed the concept of Birth Cartography. This resource facilitates effective communication during maternity care and supports maternal decision making. She completed her PhD this year, which evaluated the birth map in Australian maternity services.
A mother of 4, Catherine doesn't stop there. She is also the chair the board for Tender Funerals Canberra Region and an integral player in the Braidwood Community Association. You can follow her many projects and achievements here.
So, thank you Catherine, we are thrilled to have you at the helm! |
